Due to current economic conditions, unemployment rates are at elevated levels. Various reasons contribute to this fact such as but not limited to the global pandemic of Covid-19. While the economy continues to recover, there are individuals who may be seeking employment opportunities. In an effort to provide resources to the brotherhood and the community, Phi Beta Sigma—State of Georgia has partnered with Mercer University to host a Virtual Resumé Workshop.
The resume workshop included information about different types of resumes, best practices on building a wining resume and provide an opportunity for participants to submit their own resumes for review/critique. The State of Georgia collaborated with brothers from Gamma Pi Sigma and Gamma Iota Gamma chapters , Sigma Beta Club, and Mercer University Educational Opportunities Center (MEOC). The event hosted 25—30 participants which include brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Alumni and Collegiate), sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., family and friends.
The workshop hosted our guest presenter, Christian Smith from MEOC facilitated an interactive workshop which allowed participants to compete for prizes. The top three participants to answer the most questions correctly received prizes from Mercer EOC.
