Macon Sigmas adopts elementary school recently named after Congressman John Lewis

The Bibb County School District recently renamed Riley Elementary School after Congressman John Lewis who passed in July 2020. Lewis was the United State House Representative of Georgia's 5th congressional district and a civil rights activist who marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. A memorandum of understanding was signed between recently renamed school and the Gamma Pi Sigma Chapter of Macon to adopt the school. This means the chapter can assist in the development of students with programs that lie within the initiatives of the fraternity's Education programs. In support of the school's renaming ceremony, brothers from the chapter, along with school and city officials, and family of the late congressman appeared at the event.
