While the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the face-to-face interactions to be limited and few, the Brothers have gone to webinars and virtual meetings to conduct meetings and conferences, train Brothers and fellowship. The Brothers from the State of Georgia followed suit with its Virtual Brotherhood Development Day, Hosted by Georgia State Director, Bro. Monaleto C. Irby. The webinar kicked off on Friday, October 9th with a Robert’s Rules of Order/Parliamentary Procedures presentation facilitated by International Parliamentarian, Bro. Edwin K. Miles. The evening was capped off by Virtual Brotherhood Night Fellowship where the sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. were invited to participate.
The Development Day reconvened on Saturday, October 10 with greetings from Bro. Irby, newly elected Southern Regional Director, Dr. Bro. Errick Farmer, and International First Vice President, Bro. Chris Rey. Bro. Rey, then presented during a general session on Effective Chapter Management, which covered leadership selection, membership intake, and succession planning. After the morning general session, Brothers attended workshops of their choice. The first set of breakout sessions featured presentations of Creating A Chapter Budget/Effective Financial Management and Collegiate Corner/Effective Communication by East Tennessee First Vice State Director, Larvizo Wright and former Second International Vice President, Jarrod Benjamin, respectively. After a brief intermission, there was a second set of breakout sessions. Florida First Vice State Director, Bro. Brady Talley presented the Risk Management workshop while Navigating the BluPrint workshop was facilitated by Southern Regional Director of Leadership Academy and International Director of Military Affairs, Bro. Daniel Smith.
The Brothers who attended the conference were well pleased with the workshops offered during the Virtual Brotherhood Development Day. They will have an opportunity to hear the trainings again, as they were recorded. Those in attendance included International Director of Collegiate Affairs, Joshua Busby; Deputy Chief of Staff and former Southern Regional Director, Honorable Bro. Ray Smith; and State Directors of Alabama, Bahamas, Florida, Mississippi, and East Tennessee, and North Carolina.
